Aboard Sengo – September 2023

Mount Larcom from Graham Creek

September is generally the penultimate northerly cruising month for many, a time when most of those on boats are thinking about getting ready to turn around and head south (at least to below their cyclone insurance line), when the northerly winds start in October or November. But we hadn’t yet had a cruising season – dismissing the two days we didn’t get off boat at Lady Musgrave Island last month. Would we have liked to escape the Gladstone area and head north for a short cruising season before our turn-around this year? Yes. Did this happen? No. We were still on dock in Gladstone for two thirds of September, dealing with existing boat issues, and coping with some unexpected new ones. When we did get off dock we did manage to see a couple of new places, but the wish to pre-vote for the October Referendum had us sticking around theGladstone area for longer than ideal. Aboard Sengo September 2023 is 3.4MEG.

    • Thanks, Chris. Yes, this year (and last year for that matter) has been trying. But you three have had your own issues so we know we are not alone.

  1. Lucky you were on board when the fire started! By the way the equine Waler has no ‘h’ in it. 😏

    Cheers

    • Hi Sue. Lovely to hear from you! Yes, it was lucky we were on board when the fire started – it was also lucky that Andrew kept a level head. I will correct the spelling error and repost. x
